Mount Mercy University has named Josie Takes the alumni relations coordinator. Takes previously served as the events and programs director at the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, in which she planned and managed all festival events and programs. She worked closely with the many organizations and businesses in the Cedar Rapids area, and is involved in many groups throughout the community including the Blue Zones Project, Theatre Cedar Rapids, and the NewBo City Market. She holds her bachelor’s degree from University of Iowa in Communication Studies, a minor in Human Relations, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management.
As the alumni relations coordinator at Mount Mercy University, Takes plans alumni events, manages alumni recognition and awards programs, serves on the alumni board, facilitates the Young Alumni Council, and maintains relationships with alumni. Takes also coordinates an alumni volunteer program with various campus departments and facilitates the S.T.A.T (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) group.
Mount Mercy’s alumni office plans many regional events throughout the year for alums to reconnect and share memories. With over 5,000 alumni residing in Linn County, many graduates remain closely connected with the university, volunteering their time for events and developing strong relationships with current students.
